If all the broken pieces fit
IF ALL THE BROKEN PIECES FIT
An ordinary life can be turned on the flip of a dime
One mistake can cause our paths to change
A slip in judgement,a lapse ,an error
Can adjust a course that fans outward
Reaching innocents,bystanders,random strangers
If only ,if only they had no regret
If only if only they’d chosen wiser
listened for signs, instructions,directions
If choices made by others in life were altered slightly
Two broken shells would never have collided
Come,crashing into one another’s lives
Or was it always written this way ….just so….fate
That they were always meant to ease each others pain
He……longing, emotionally void,closed off ,grieving
Her…..empty,lonely,confused,shattered
Yet together they laugh,joke,inspire,feel,touch,taste
Move as one and smile
If only for fleeting moments they brighten one another’s worlds
Allow there own individual hurts to be left to one side
They touch and she feels it ….does he?
The same electricity,the way her one,once made her feel
The intense physical connection she used to know in another life.
He gets her,allows her to smile again ,breathe once more,laugh out loud, be herself without the facade.
Without the painted on smile she shows the world to hide her pain
Holds her like many a night she has wished her past was embracing her
If only he was not broken and in pain too.
She wonders if she makes a difference in his world
Does she brighten his day like she feels she does ,even just a little?
Or is he like her walking through life with his mask on
Faking it for the world ,yet existing only to please others
If only their lives had not crossed paths with the time stamp of now would it have been different
Would they even have met, bonded over something other than their broken lives.
She wont even think twice about the what ifs
As shes enjoying their right now with him in her world
He makes her want to be real,awake ,alive once more
Even though they might never be unbroken enough to love again or feel complete.
A beautiful friendship is needed by her ,a strong ,in control ,grounded man to guide and help her navigate her once not so broken self again
And that may just be enough……or not
She guesses only time will tell
If all their broken pieces fit together
